Tied To You

&

Well, I’m scared too, that we don’t know why we’re here
Or where we came from and if we get to go back to it
I’m scared too, that the world seems so unfair
And the TV keeps reminding us we blew it

I’m scared of getting old, of dying young
Of staying still, of moving on
Of reaching out too far and losing my footing
But the answers lie in little things
So, I’m keeping my heart tied to a string
That’s tied to you no matter where you’re going

I’m sorry that life can be so hard
And that I can’t fix most things you need fixing
I’m so sorry we bury dogs in the backyard
And still take for granted all the time we’re given

I’m sorry growing up hurts so much
And we lose people that we love
And the rainbows only come after the storming
But in nature there’s no such thing as king
So, I’m keeping my heart tied to a string
That’s tied to you no matter where you’re going
No matter where you’re going

So, don’t forget that we’re the lucky ones
Who feel the feelings in our bones
And hold our breath inside our lungs
So we don’t cry in public
But the breaking only means it’s love
So don’t ever let it make you tough
Don’t ever try to ever rise above it
I’m tied to you, I’m tied so tight to you
No matter where you’re going
No matter where you’re going
